I have an application in Websphere 5 trying to connect to db2 v8. the database is in a different machine. i can connect to the database using db2connect. so the database is running and i have permissions to access it as well.
but when i try thro WSAD, i get the following error

"Mapping the following SQLException, with ErrorCode -99,999 and SQLState 08S01, to a StaleConnectionException: [IBM][JDBC Driver] CLI0616E Error opening socket. SQLSTATE=08S01"

pls advice
Thank You

Probable reasons :

a)Make sure you are running only one Client to the database from your machine.

b) Check the resource mappings like the URL/dbname and port are correct while configuring the DataSource from WSAD.

"praveen S",

There aren't many rules that you need to worry about here on the Ranch, but one that we take very seriously regards the use of proper names. Please take a look at the JavaRanch Naming Policy and adjust your display name to match it.

In particular, your display name must be a first and a last name separated by a space character, and must not be obviously fictitious.

thanks karthik,
the reason was i missed to check the Component-managed authentication alias in datasource configuration. that did the trick.
I agree. Here's the link:
