I am reading from database that has european characters as part of city names. How do I make sure that rs.getString("DestinationCity") captures the city name with all the right characters? How can i check the ascii code or unicode value of each character?

I found out a way ... this works

String str = "K´┐ŻLN";

System.out.println(str.codePointAt(1));

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
