how do i go about installing the cloudscape java database to use with as my database?
any hlp will be highly welcomed

The Cloudscape database was donated by IBM to the open-source Apache project, which has changed the name to "Derby". You can get more info, and the latest version, here:
http://db.apache.org/derby/

If you want to stay with a particular Cloudscape version, you'll probably need to search the IBM support sites. There at least used to be a lot there.

Also, you might take a look at the Hypersonic DB, it's similar in many ways to Derby.

If you are doing server-side development, you will find Cloudscape bundled with servers such as Sun J2EE Server and WebLogic Server.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
