I am not sure if the mentioned link already emphasizes it, but one thing i found especially helpful when dealing with XML and CLOB columns was the ability to get a output stream and write to it..

The similar thing is possible with BLOBs, just refer to javadocs. I am curious, why would you choose BLOB over CLOB for storing XML data, which is i believe by nature is character oriented?

What do you feel about native XML databases for storing XML ? Do you think that they will get popular?
