Hi Preeti,
The company is good, but mostly in Maintinence Side. As far as onsite opportunities are concerned, company prefer candidates with VISA Ready, B1 OR H1.

Feel free to contact me for any Job related quries, I am a placement consultant & can find a good job for you.

"HR Consultancy",
while we appreciate you posting jobs in the Jobs Offered forum, if you want to take part in discussions in any other forum you will have to change your display name.

According to the Ranch naming policy, fictitious names are not allowed. One of few areas we are lenient is companies posting in the Jobs Offered or Blatant Advertising forums, but we will and have deleted accounts for straying outside these forums.

Please feel free to create a second account for general discussion if you wish.

thanks,
David O'Meara.

Hi Preeti,

The company is good in terms of Salary : Typically 2-3 years of experience will give you 4.5 - 5.5 lacs per annum . Work is in Core Java ( I guess in threading etc ) . They do have J2EE projects too but not sure whether they are plenty .

Let me know if you need any more information .

Thanks,
SIM

Depending on your experience there may be interview directly or test first.

Test will be on Core java and SQL primarily .

Thanks everyone for your inputs.

Lavjeet, are you in Lehman or have appeared for its interview?
I am interested in the company but I want to work in j2ee projects and not core java.

Also, what will be a better choice? A services company working in Finance domain or working in the IT dept of financial institutions?

Thanks..

I am also interested to know about kind of work-salary they give for j2ee 6 yrs exp, and basic facility in Mumbai.. do they provide
bus for office commute like accenture, tcs or deloitte.

Now a day local train in Mumbai is horrible !!

Well, work wise i think core java running on unix is basic environment, Am I right ?
what would be the strength of Mumbai office ?

1. They have a good reputation in the market .
2. The salary structure is pretty neat .
One of my friend appeared there for 2+ Java J2EE .
Salary wud be 4.2 - 4.8 depending on exp + relocation + joining bonus + year end bonus .
3. They interviewed him in Core Java basically multithreading, Exception handling , Life cycle of Servlets and JSP, JSP implicit variables and scope . In the interview he was tld that work will be in Core Java . They told him that J2EE work may be given later but not now . They are pretty straightforward .
4. Test had questions in
Core Java : static and no static method , overriding , overloading etc .
SQL :Cardinality ( one to one, one to many) , Queries regarding HAVING clause etc

Thanks for your input.
What is there domain ? and what are the possibilities of onsite.
Do they require only developers or Lead as well at Mumbai office.

MNC mainly works like all managers and leads are at onsite , in india they probably have some delivery head and project co-ordinator, here developers simply maintain / develope small/mid code/module an deliver at onsite.

Is lehman also work on same manner.

Hi Rish!

Maybe you would like to see what a person from Lehman has to say about the company. He has 6+yrs of experience by the way.

Lehman is not an IT company. It is very different from a conventional IT comp... we have various business units and IT depts. supporting those business units. Like one can work for Operations and Finance Tech group which supports operations n finance business groups. This person will develop, maintain and support the apps for these two groups. Lehman has work on java+j2ee apps. Currently we have a project based on spring framework (enterprise level application), a SOA based project... n few swing UI based apps as well. The work is fairly challenging...

The above seems quite enlightening on the work part. However, moral of the story is there is no guarantee on the kind of project you do(which holds true for most companies anyways!!) - it could be maintenance and support or a challenging development!

I think pay should be fairly good and onsite opportunities not plenty.

Again, this post only portrays my impression of the company and I could be wrong.
Hope this helped.

No issues Preeti,

Actually I was very confused in making decision. I have asked so many ppl about LB and everyone said company is best in its field(Finance). but there are always two side to look, one is from outside and one is from inside. I was looking for someone's comment who can tell me about the later side

Thanks once again

cheers,
Rish

My LB experience.

1st when we were waiting a manager (3rd Indian LB employee) came in and talked about LB and said that they are growing and targeting a strenght of 1600 by this December. I cleared all the round of interview's at LB. The HR female told me that I'll be getting a call from US counter part for one more round. I waited for 2 days and called back the HR, she said they have closed the position and I cant even attend the interview for next 6 months. I somehow got a feeling that LB in India is been not managed well.

Does anyone have some similar experience with some other firm?

Rakesh

AFAIK, there isn't very good work happening in CAD. Moreover, they are the Corporate Advisory Group so you will not even have exposure to finance domain. You can ask them to concider you for another group before joining.

Anjali,

Let them contact I will talk with HR. Actually they were considering my profile for a group which develops frameworks which can be used by other applications used by Lehman, and it was only related to technology, there was nothing to do with business logic and functional knowledge. I told them, I came for interview only because Lehman works in Financial domain projects and I will prefer that, so, they told me about the opening of CAD...

Now I have to again talk with the HR ...

Wot do u say .. if they agree will they come up with other rounds of interviews for another department?

Much Thnx.. bye the way whr did u joined ultimately...

I guess you were interviewed for EAS or ETS team before and they are doing a lot better work than CAD.
I was first interviewed by CAD team and they told me I will be working Javascript and all.. I refused to take that up and more over there wasnt much domain expertise involved...
I have now joined the Investment Management Division and yes I did give more rounds of interview with my TL here to get into this div..

Congrates ...

Yah Anajali, U are right, that was ETS only ..

My Interview was very easy and just was a cake walk, and I was wondering whether I m in Lehman for the interview..
some common JSP, servlet questions were asked and after that HR and PM round happend ...

So for new department u have to again appear for all rounds of interview?
