I have installed MySQL database and set the required driver jar file in the classpath

Now i am writing a simple java class to connect to the database.

my question is

what is my userid and password for connecting to the database, i never entered any userid and password while downloading

Does anybody knows the default userid and password, where in the installed files do i need to look for them

any help would be appreciated

I dont know if there is a default root password for MySQL (there could very well be). Why not set a new account with a password and use that account for your JDBC connectivity

ok, i solved it and did it this way.

As i open the command prompt to create a new userid and password, as soon as i open the command line it prompts me to enter the password

So what i did was, i opened MySQL server instance Configuration Wizard and seleted the option of creating configuration instead of Staandard Configuration. Where you need to check the option of Run as Windows Service and when you click Next it will prompt you to enter the root password, there you go. After i am done with the wizard, i entered the same password in the command line and it worked fine.

i think, still anyway i need to create a userid and password

Since if i write a sample program to connect to the database, i need to enter userid and password along with URL. But i have password, but no userid. Is there a default userid ?

Anyway, i will just go ahead and create a account and work with it

Unless you've explicitly changed it, the default root password is blank.

after installing mysql, it will allow you to configue, while it will prompt you to enter passwor. that password worked for me

And i see that the default userid is "root"
