configure an ODBC datasource----help

Hi, i want to configure a ODBC datasource to access a database like "Northwind" from SQL Server, using a java program.
I know that you must go to control panel in windows, and select Administrative Tools
Data Sources (ODBC), but i am kind of lost there.
what do i have to do now?
