Hi,

I have read that type 3 drivers are supported only by the application servers..

Is that true?

Regards

As you can see from the JavaRanch driver comparison, type 3 drivers are usually provided by the middleware vendor, not the database vendor.

What database are you using?

We typically use the driver from the database vendor (type 4) because it is faster. The database vendor is in the best position to optimize the driver for their database.

For questions about setting up a datasource on JBoss, please start a new thread in the JBoss forum.

Thanks Jeanne...

So by making use of the datasource,we use type 3 drivers

Is that inference correct..?

Not neccessarily. You can set up a datasource on the application server using and driver you want.
