Whatever your current salary, you will get a standard minimum 30% hike - above this depends on the role played, your performance in the interview and the knowledge that you possess, and your ability to negotiate.

I guess they will give you some where between 4.5 to 5L per annum.
Moreover, if your CMM level company has more than 500 people, you can ask for 1 LPA more per 100 people exceeding 500 people. Note that salary levels will differ if you come from CMM level 4 company or CMM level 5 company -- later will entitle you to higher salary.
If your current company's name has more than 36 characters in it then you can get additional 1 LPA. Also if your current company has more than 5 offices worldwide, you can get upto additional 2 LPA. I have been told by HR friend recently that such calculations are used internally to evaluate an offer. It indeed is a bargain market -- start negotialing from 24 LPA and see how much maximum the can pay. HP, after all is a holy cow -- I think you can get up to 23.7 LPA if you negotiate well!!!
p.s. Take inputs with a pinch of salt -- and thank me for a good laugh as you anticipate Friday!!! [ March 09, 2006: Message edited by: Manish Hatwalne ]
HP pays good. Also it depends whether you applied to the company or HR called you. If you got a call from HR, that means that they have urgent requirements and you can use this 'tip' to your advantage.
My personal opinion is anything above 5. Let us know how it goes...
Also if it is in Bangalore, you should also take in mind the cost of living, commuting as it is generally higher then Pune/Hyderabad.
