I am a tyro in JDBC. I have some doubts on datasources and it's connection. You will be appreciated if you can help me with these questions.

What is a datasource?
Why are we using them to connect to databases? Can we connect to databases without these datasources?
What is JNDI? Is it related to database/datasource?
What are the types of datasources

The best way forward for a tyro would be read few documentation/tutorials on JDBC.

Please have a look at: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/jdbc/

They will clear almost all queries you have...
