I have a request to break down a .mde access db into smaller files. I don't have much clue how to read a .mde file and create new ones.

does anyone have similar situations before?

Thanks a lot!

Well... I googled MDE files to find out what they are. Looks to me like an MDE file is a compiled version of an Access database. One of their purposes is to secure the database from being changed by the user. It is not designed to be decompiled. But apparently you can download and buy tools that can "unlock" an MDE and even convert it back to an MDB.

So in my opinion, if you're looking for Java code to extract the components from an MDE file, it doesn't exist and you won't be able to write it.

However, if you only need to write SQL code to extract data from that database, you should certainly be able to do that with JDBC. Is that what you actually need to do? Your description doesn't sound like that, but maybe that's because you haven't been given a clear description of the task yourself.

I agree. Here's the link: http://aspose.com/file-tools
