what are the scripting languages?

What are the scripting languages used by many companies? Which scripting language is most demand in market...

Is it necessary to learn it for Test engineers ..

Perl
APL
BeanShell(scripting for Java)
JavaScript
VB Script

Depends on what you want to use it for. For web development PHP is very popular. On the client Perl and Python have a lot of traction. On Windows you can probably add VBScript to that list. I wouldn't think that you'd need to know one for a QA position.

why i am asking is ...coz in many requirement they ask skills in scripting langauge ....

This is a highly questionable statement. JavaScript is really only fashionable in client-side web scripting (and there it's the only viable choice). The question may well be about client-side scripting outside of the browser, or about web scripting on the server. Unless you know something about the poster that we don't, it's not possible to say what might be best.

U r right it's not possible to say what might be best. COZ he is working with JAVA technology (SCJP1.4) that�s why I suggested him to choose JavaScript.

JavaScript and PERL.

Definitely PERL. A lot of companies want candidates with some basic PERL knowledge.
Some alternatives are Ruby, Python.
JavaScript should be easy for you if you already know Java.

I am not working on java development.. I am working on web base application using testing tools ..
I do have good skills in Java.

But companies requirting for Test engineers need skills in scripting language ...

I am really confused here what to do .. to have long career growth...

What about Mercury Testing tools like TestDirector, SiteScope ?

If you are using TestDirector , you may need to automate the test process by writing scripts ( its kinda vb script ) to simulate various test scenario. For SiteScpope its different.
