Open Source Head First

Is there any intention of open sourcing the head first series, starting with Head First sql?

Java is open-source
Ranch is a open-community
When Head first is the cool

book cool

guys prefer why not turn the HF series open.

What do you mean by open-sourcing a book - giving up the copyright? How do you expect authors to survive if everybody can disseminate their work for free?

Are you serious? Do you have any idea whatsoever how much work goes into writing a book? Do you really feel that authors should spend all the time required, and it is many many more hours than you could possibly imagine, for nothing?

Tell you what.... you write a book to give away freely. Then we'll talk.

Not by devoting all their time on something they give away for free, but by having other streams of income.

An author survives by making money on books they write, which is a time-consuming process.

I suggest that you choose to work for free in your career... in effect to "open source" yourself.

Let us know how that works out for you.

A lot of the open source authors/vendors make money by selling support. Effectively a book is support.

Tell you what.... you write a book to give away freely. Then we'll talk.

I applaud all the comments pointing out what a stupid suggestion the original post is, but in particular I like Bear's challenge to "walk the talk".

There is always one group of people that want everything handed to them.

Anselm, I notice that you posted 3 questions in this forum of little value one after another within 3 minutes of each other.

Are you really trying to contribute to this forum or trying to increase your chances of winning a book?

Why don't you write a book and give it away for free (if you are an expert in any of those topics otherwise even if you give it for free no one will take it)??
