i want to make a mysql database, and I know how, but how do I get the .database file? I've tried before but I don't know how to "dump" the database into a file so i can manipulate it on my server.

Thanks,

Justin Fox

You can export your local MySQL database table including their data into SQL script, and then import it to your online database in your web server.

ok thanks, I'll look into the different mysql commands to do so.

also, can php connect to any database, or is mysql pretty much it?

Thanks again,

Taken from http://pear.php.net/package/DB :
"Drivers for the following extensions pass
the complete test suite and provide
interchangeability when all of DB's
portability options are enabled:

fbsql, ibase, informix, msql, mssql,
mysql, mysqli, oci8, odbc, pgsql,
sqlite and sybase."
