Can ranchers please list some companies in the 3 categories

1.Paymasters with moderate work load...
---Intel

2.Pay masters with good onsite opportunities(ok even if the work load is heavy..onsite will compensate for that)
---Samsung
--Trilogy

Pay masters with Heavy workload
---De Shaw

Intel comes in Category 1...Some of my friends goto office at 9 and return home at 6.30..Can someone think of other such companies...

Can anybody suggest some companies for category 2...Samsung belongs to category 2.People keep going to korea and US...

I am planning to make a switch to companies in any of these first 2 categories...Can ranchers please give their input and help me create the list..

Hi Rambo,

I appreciate your thinking.

Don't put (and think) Amdocs with Trilogy and all.

Yes Rathi Trilogy is way ahead of amdocs interms of pay and Amdocs isn't a too good paymaster when compared to trilogy but onsite opportunities seem to be good...

Intel - paymaster

One of my IIT Mtech friend was offered around 6 LPA as initial salary. This is not a great package compared to what Google offers to freshers.

Reghu,

If you feel Intel is not a pay master please do add some more companies whom you think are real pay masters that will help us prepare the list...

I'm continually amazed how many people grade a company foremost on pay and workload. To be sure, one wants to get paid well, and certainly one needs time to actually spend the money and balance work with the rest of life. But we spend far too much time of our lives at work to do something we find unappealing, so I think that working in a stimulating environment (both in terms of work and colleagues), ranks rather higher than what is paid or how much one has to work. But then, I do not think of my employer as "paymaster"...

I agree with you Ulf. Many people who are in their initial stages of career(may be 0 - 3 years experience) give more importance to money and many times compares their salary with their classmates, friends and other collegues. I am very happy with my present company for the kind of work I do, for the recognization I got and not because the money they are paying to me.
Probably it will some time for freshers to realize that there are many other things we need to worry in our career along with money.

I don't think it is nly about freshers. When we were freshers, we believed and gave more imporatnce to the kind exposure and work culture company provided, and later it became atitude/approach - I still cannot think of working for a company which does not provide internet access orif work is boring/stagnating.

Upto a great extent companies should also be blamed when they attract new people to the industry - with higher & higher pay package, freshers now get what we got after 3-4 years. And probably USP is promoted as pay-package and that seems to be the only criteria these days.

You are right. But freshers percentage is more. When we are freshers getting a job in India is very difficult so, we never bothered about the salary and we are more interested to get job. Now things are changed and many people are targetting for highly paid job.

Ulf,Kj Reddy and Manish,

How do you infer that pay masters dont offer good work to do..?It is just that aspirations ,ambition and priorities are different for each person..It is just that my preferences are different and I am more money minded...I have absolutely no qualms in accepting that fact...

Am not too concerned about the type of work because I dont intend to continue in IT industry for too long and would like to soon switch to finance (which is my passion.).To achieve my goal I need to earn good money to finance my higher studies... ...The sooner I earn the required money the easier it will be to make this transition...

We are not blaming you so, don't take our comments negatively. We just expreseed what we think and expressed our interests and you(others) may or may not accept with ours. Every one will have their own priorities.

Good luck

Absolutely no hassles with that...it's great you know what you want and you know where you are headed. Clarity of thoughts often helps a lot!!

Sometimes, though people may know what they want; it's only later some of them realize that it was not what they needed.

But your goals/approach look just fine and we've already seen your knowledge & passion for finance! You should follow your heart...and if it also pays well, can things get any better??? Good luck!

I inferred nothing of the kind. I am simply observing what seems to be high up on peoples wish list for companies. What a company actually offers is a separate issue.

Trilogy is a very good company.Yes its stable and doesn't hire in masses in like TCS.Its selection whether in US/India is little difficult.Paywise I am not sure but must be descent one.Sometime back it used to hire only from IITs but now it hires from many segments.
Trilogy patents.
