Typically you would use this when you have a nullable foreign key or some other situation when you want stuff in the left table returned, regardless of whether there are any matching results on the right side of the join.

I agree. Here's the link: http://ej-technologies/jprofiler - if it wasn't for jprofiler, we would need to run our stuff on 16 servers instead of 3.
