I am currently in US on H1. Can someone tell me how is Deloitte?
I believe they are only into body shopping.
Someone can pls provide some info on this like :
1. Projects
2. work culture
3. Package
4. Do they fire ?

1. Most of Deloitte's projects are based on ERP systems. They are really big in SAP, JD Edwards, Peoplesoft and Oracle Financials. The kind of work you do will depend on the team you belong to.
-The EA (Enterprise Applications team) focusses on the business side of things.
-The TI (Technical Integraion) focusses on..well..technical stuff
-S&O (Strategy and Operations ) focusses on Management Consulting. Deloitte is really small in this segment. The big players are McKinsey, Bain, BCG and so on.

2. Deloitte's culture is based on 'visibility'. You have to be strong at networking and getting noticed. If you like to sit in a cube all day and work, Deloitte is not for you.

3. Package should be as per industry average. In the USA, you could get a starting package of $60-$65k plus 5-10k signing bonus.

4. Deloitte is a consulting company. Their hiring is based on a simple equation of supply and demand. As for right now, Deloitte is hiring agressively. Will they fire? Your guess is as good as mine! We simply have no way of knowing.

All the best!

TI has several practices within it:
1. Networking
2. Business Intelligence
3. Information Dynamics (Databases, Datawarehousing)
and so on.

You won't know in advance what you're going to work on. Everything is on a project basis. And that means, you'll often have to learn new technologies and hit the ground running. That's one reason Deloitte doesn't ask technical questions for entry level positions - simply because they don't know yet where you're going to be placed and what project you're going to work on.

My personal experience with Deloitte USA is that its a fantastic company to work for - if you enjoy working hard and partying hard, if you are outgoing and ofcourse, have a great attitude. The employees are young, very smart and very dynamic.

Hope that helps,
Amit

Can't comment for someone with solid experience like you.
I'm much younger (in age and experience) and hence my observation is limited to entry level or upto 2 yrs exp people.

For this kind of experience, you should definitely be atleast a Team Lead or Project Manager.

Do keep in mind that Deloitte USA jobs are travel intensive. If you're married and have kids, you might not enjoy the 100% travel as much as someone who is just out of university. While negotiating with Deloitte, do address this issue.
All the best,
Amit

Thanks Amit,

As of now I am not looking for Deloitte, as their offer is for India. I am presently in US and thinking of joining some good indian company. One of the main reason for that is I need job stability and also have a family here with me.

Thnx,
Afroz
