The article is partially true. The problem often encountered is that of uninspired and lumbering colleagues. Most of them seem to be happy to stay in company upto 9:00 P.M. on regular basis doing some dumb work. The situation can onle be improved if these companies explicitly state general working hours and kick out workaholics after a certain time.
But the author, himself, is an owner of a small software services company, no wonder, vents his frustration on bigger outfits. There's a tinge of hypocracy there. [ May 09, 2006: Message edited by: Ramesh Choudhary ]
Yes, unfortunately its true. I am working for a big MNC in India. My bosses are so good in keeping us idle the whole day and then giving us work when its time to leave. And this is not an exceptional case. It is not just happening in some projects in my company but also with many big players in India. Also there are many programmers who enjoy sitting late just because they don't have anything better to do with their life. Strangely, many people think that it a matter of pride to stay late in office. I have heard so many people boasting that they went home at 2 am yesterday, as if they had done something really commendable.
