I disagree Though i am not a regular at the sun java forums, i have seen that the response time here is better than that over there. All the same, here's the possible set of reasons why the questions might not be answered:

Why doesnt anyone respond to questions

What do you consider a long time? There are many reasons why getting an answer might take longer than you want. Start by reading this.

Also, depending on where you are, you may be posting in the middle of the night for many other folks.

Personally, i've always found the answers here to be very timely. More importantly, find the people here to be much nicer than just about any other fourm i've been on.

Personally, i'm not aware of any other fourms (i am assuming you mean JAVA forums, not forums in general). This is the only one i ever use.

You joined less than twelve hours ago. Since then, you've asked three questions (not including this one,) two of which are the same question, just worded differently. The longest you waited for an answer was 33 minutes. Where's the problem exactly?

In my opinion, JavaRanch is the best place on Earth to ask Java questions.

Mhh, from looking at your posts ( http://www.coderanch.com/forums/posts/listByUser/00139929 ), you got answers after 24.5, 0.5 and 0.25 hours. I don't see how that can qualify as "long".

Regarding the number of posts - why would you expect more answers when the first already is a good one?

In general, the more effort you put into asking your question, the more effort people will typically be willing to put into answering it. Short questions will get short and few answers - if you want more, it typically pays back to elaborate.

*A day* and 33 minutes. Still acceptable, I'd think...

Unless your clock works differently than mine, 12:14 AM on December 8th is 33 minutes after 11:41 PM December 7th.

Oh wait: your clock probably does work differently than mine. You know, we have these 12 hour clocks, and all. That 24-hour clock thing? We don't do that here in the US.
