hello all, i am learning java. we have started EJB recently. i have a PC with windows 98 palteform. when i go for download the j2ee server there is two configuration only (Windows NT and Solarise). Is this possible to run this server onto my machine (98). which one i can download or my PC.
Sachin, In a industrial sense NT and Solaris are the platforms where you will be running your app server. I would suggest you to buy a copy of these OSs and install your app server on this OS. This will give you better exposure and will not restrict you to a stripped down app server version. You can keep your win98 by using a partition software( usually costs 40$s) and have other OSs also installed on your machine.
Or... You can download the Orion app server from www.orionserver.com. It's free and said to be very fast. It works great on Win98. It deploys your apps automatically. But support is non-existent from the vendor. You can get support at http://www.elephantwalker.com/. Francois
There is a simpler solution. Set up your j2sdkee1.3 in the standard places. Go to www.amicworld.com and download j2eelauncher.jar, which launches 1.3 even on win98! No hassles with changing .bat files, set's, etc. or having to install NT, 2K or other OS's. From the amicworld documentation:
