Is there any J2EE (or EJB) training opportunities outside the work place? I understand that most of people are trained by doing real world projects at work. I would like to know if there are training centers or schools that offer training in J2EE. I live in Northern Virginia, US. Thanks.

Do you mean something like a 1-week class, or a University course? Lots of companies (like IBM, BEA and The Middleware Company, one of our sponsors) teach J2EE classes. Check their web sites for details.
Only a few Universities that I know of actually teach J2EE as part of their cirricula. I teach such a class here at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, but it's not that common.

Thanks, Kyle. What I mean "J2EE training outside work place" is something that prepares and helps one ready to take up real world projects and start producing for employers. I am seeking output oriented training courses that emphasize problem solving and hands on practice. I am unable to commute to NC to take your course. Do you know anything in Northern Virginia (Washington, D.C. metropolitan area)?

The Middleware Company offers training in several cities across the US including New York City. I took their 5-day course on EJBs there in July. It's a bit fast-paced and covers a lot of ground in a short timespan. Of course, you won't get a whole lot of practical experience but at least you'll get some hands-on knowledge and you will come out with a good idea of what kind of work is involved when using/writing EJBs.
