I've recently downloaded the J2EE but the standard setup is not working. Any suggestions?

first: post it in the j2ee forum

After setting the environment variables suggested by Sun I was still unable to compile a test servlet. Javac was unable to locate the javax classes.
Please let me know what other detail would be helpful. Thank you in advance.

Download the Tomcat from Apache web site and include it's servlet.jar in the CLASSPATH, then you can compile your servlets.
