Problem with Sun J2EE tutorial.

I am reading Sun's J2EE tutorial and trying its examples.
But when I use GUI deploytool to open the ear file under examples/ear directory, I keep getting such message,
"The ear file is corrupt or cannot be read."
Anybody can help me out?
