hi there...
what are the various wire-level protcols used by application servers ? is there a standard protocol that every server has to support per the EJB specification? and what does it mean...when we say that app servers use RMI at the API level, and a different protocol at the wire level?
and what are the limitations with (any) proprietary wire-level protocols....?
please help
thanks

As of J2EE 1.2 all Application servers are required by the spec to use RMI over IIOP, so IIOP is the wire-level protocol used by all of them.
