This week's book giveaway is in the OCAJP 8 forum. We're giving away four copies of OCA Java SE 8 Programmer I Study Guide and have Edward Finegan & Robert Liguori on-line! See this thread for details.
We're thinking of using the MVC example in chapter 6 of the Pro JSP 2nd Ed book in our application. I don't think we'd be able to take advantage of EJBs in the platform that we'll be using so we need a somehow lightweight framework. Also, the examples provided in chapter 6 of the book didn't show how to incorporate an application which connects to a database, so we're wondering if we'd still be needing DAO to access a data store or will it be ok to use custom tags which access the DB instead?
