Hi,

Iam sanni from India. I would like to know how is the market for oracle financials. I am a unix and c++ developer with 6.5 yrs exprience.

I would like to add on new skills of Oracle Financials so that I can get good opportunities abroad. I never had an opportunity to go abroad.

Please advice. Also please let me know which are the good institutes for training Oracle Financials in Bangalore, India.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum.
At JavaRanch, we require all display names to follow a consistent format of FIRSTNAME followed by LASTNAME. The helps to give the forum a professional look. Please take a look at the naming policy at http://www.javaranch.com/name.jsp
and change your name accordingly.

With regards to your query, although I'm no Oracle Fin expert, I'd say don't count on it as your USP for reaching USA. There are a lot of 'consultants' here in USA who make Oracle experts out of new college grads. Rather, try to get into one of the reputable consulting companies like Deloitte, Accenture etc into their ERP practice and take it from there. The advantage is - stability, excellent training and most importantly brand recognition.
Just my $0.02!

Hope that helps,
Amit

My experience with others who do Oracle Financials work for a living is:

-They spend a lot of time just "making it work" for the business
-Any "development" is regarded as customization and is mostly done in PL/SQL (although Java is possible)
-Oracle consultants who implement ERP solutions for companies leave them with a horrible legacy of bad integration points
-ERP upgrades are NOT fun

You need to ask yourself as a C++ developer if that's something you really want to get into. I think it would be a waste...
