J2EE : Development Platform or Architecture ?

Is J2EE is just a Development Platform or is it an Architecture or a technology
Is EJB a technology developed using J2EE architecture or is it an independed technology.
I'm a little confused with defferent descriptions by different people.

J2EE is an architecture and Enterprise JavaBeans are a part of the architecture. I think it would be wrong to call J2EE a development platform, but a J2EE-compliant application server acts as a kind of development platform...
I really don't know the correct vocabulary, but maybe you would take a dive into the Sun documents and figure it out. I bet there is a paragraph titled "What is J2EE?" in the specifications...
