Caching results in Entity Bean

I have a read-only entity bean and I would like to read the data only once and keep the data cached permanently while the server is running. Is caching an app-server specific option - not available to all app servers? I'm using JBoss.
Thanks.

This is called Option A caching in the EJB spec. Go to this manual page and search down for Option A.
