I am planning to move back to India in 6-10 months. My problem is that My current company doesn't have a presence in India . So , Transfer is ruled out .

In other words , I will go to india without a job in hand. I am little worried about that. I am sure many people would have faced the same dilemma. How do they manage ? Do they find Job in Indian companies from US and then move back to India ? Or they just go over there and start searching for a job. If you chose first option , how do they do that?

Any sound advice is welcome..

Hi , I am in same condition , but i am gettng calls from India .
It is better if you start looking job ,I am ex C++/VC++ developer and still getting calls for same platform .
Just go to naukari.com and monster india and submit your resume keep updating every week and you will get emails and phone calls from India .

Best of Luck !

First thing I would suggest is to send your resume to your friends along with your intended arrival date.

Then you can also apply to some companies of your choice. After that you can upload your resume to some job sites like monster, naukri and so on.
Then you will get calls from consultants and then you can choose anything you like.

But I am sure it would not be a great problem for you to get a job, since you have enough experience, including US experience.

All the best.

Hey Mallika,
First, market is very good in india and i am sure you will find a job easily. But the thing is you have to find the right job (the technology you want to work in + pay package you want + location).
Couple of things:
- Keep looking at websites of infosys, wipro, kanbay, tcs, and lot other companies, i guess some of them do attract ppl like us from here
- Emphasize well on any advance degree you got here (say if you have done your masters here, that really counts and not sure how much exp you have gained here)
- as Vjy said, send your resume to friends you have in indian companies, as always referrals go thru a lot better than thru careers sites
- also focus on resume (as my understanding goes there is a difference between the basic job requirements in india and here). The thing is here, we are more chosen for our programming skills/projects etc. In india, they look
for your team lead kinda skills, communication skills ofcourse as you would most likely be working on a big team interacting with clients here (unless you are looking to work for Google or yahoo india R& D or so which is great i think)
- also look at 2nd tier companies which are really booming now (as we being here mostly know only the biggies like TCS/WIPRO which pay less and suck you into their mammoth process oriented work flow. The gist is you end up doing less of actual work and more of things around work, you know what i mean :-))

Hope a lil' of my ranting helps!

Krishna

Thanks Krishana , Riti , Joshi .. It was very helpful.

Another question to Joshi on the same line.. If the HR or consultant from India contacts you , Is there a chace that some company will offer you job while you are still in USA ? No concept of personal interview ?

I will surely start pushing my resume after sometime to Job sites..

Another advice was that Kanbay and other companies do hire from here. But if they hire here , they would like you to work over here . isn't it true ?

Once again thanks to you all.

Good chances you will get every thing here, I got calls from Microsoft ,Yahoo ,KLA -tencor and 2 investment banks from Singapore .
As you can see I was enquiring about Singapore ...
Only MS HR. told last interview will be face to face in Hyderabad and they will pay for visit ...
Yahoo and KLA Tencor i did n't responded because I am mentally prepared to head towards Singapore ...
I am only applying to Companies not to any body shop or consulting ,
If you are open to Consulting try Zensar ,Wipro ,Polaris ,Iflex,Symphony services , These companies conduct every thing here in US ,at maximum they will arrange face to face interview in US offices .

VC++ and C++ are in demand ,just keep trying ...Any way where in US ? I am in NJ (New Jersey )

Best of Luck
