Java and new h1b

hi ..
does knowlede of core java and 3 years experience fetch u job in u.s as h1b contractor.
or does one has to be proficient with things like MQseries,JMS..?
Any kind of help would be really apprecieated.

Along these lines, Is the flavor of one's degree important?. Does a B.Tech/BSCS have a better advantage to be recruited then say a B.Com with similar experience?

Are there people only holding B.com degree in IT industry? I've never come across anybody like that.

I know ppl with BSc (Chem) ,Bsc Microbiolgy and BCom working from 5- 6 years in US even no formal training . Don't know differene between script and compile langauge ,but have Green Card ,earning good$$$ and have house in US .

That's correct.
People with no background has good prosperity in US than who have really having computer science degrees.
I know people having BS(computer sc.) and MS(computer sc.) from US university with good GPA struggle more than the people from Arts and commerce background.

I really don't understand how people select Bcom,BA in IT industry.
