Hi,

I have been called for an interview at SAP Labs this weekend. They have said that the interview is going to be on Java/ J2EE and Oracle. Has anybody attended the interview there in these areas ? What are the questions that I can expect ?

I have close to 2 years of experience in Java/ J2EE technologies along with Oracle DB.

Thanks,
Sandeep

If you have less then 2 Years exp. then they will ask you about core JAVA and JAVA Swings.

In DB they will ask about schemas, some question about Normalization etc.

Also depends upon the person who is taking your interview.. and the last but important whatever you have written in your resume...

Thanks, Ankur.

So, does that mean though the job-profile includes J2EE, they are basically looking for UI development guys who are well-versed with Swing/ AWT ??

I cann't say exactly about this one,so it's better to shut up my mouth on this question, but I am sure about one thing, Normally they force you to come up in SAP/APAB technologies.

Hi Ankur,

You were partly right regarding the questions asked there. But it was nothing on Swing/ AWT. But, yes. They did ask a few questions on the technologies used in the projects I worked on, Normalization, SQL queries, etc.

But, basically they are looking for people who are ready to work on ABAP and come Java Background. When asked why Java was teh criterion, the interviewer said ABAP is similar to ABAP and it's hard to get pure ABAP guys outside (probably because it's their proprietary language).

So, how do you guys rate the scope if I get into ABAP development as I come from a Java background ? What can I expect / where would I stand in the market a few years down the line if I continue in this stream?

Thanks and Regards,
Sandeep

Sandeep Alfred means that from whatever background you are coming.. SAP wants you to be having some hands on expereince in SAP.. That means that they will force you to learn SAP/ABAP.

Thanks for the clarification. But, even that doesn't answer my question. I know I will be made to learn ABAP as susch.

My question is will it have any scope a few years later if I decide to come out of SAP ? Are there other companies working in ABAP and related stuff ? Where would I stand say once I come out ?

Regards,
Sandeep
