Weekend Interview Visit to Bangalore

Hi guys,

I went for an interview to Bangalore last saturday. That was my first visit to the city. I had heard pretty bad things here in Pune from people about the city. Lot of them said Pune is better which now I do not agree.

It is indeed a very beautiful city. I stayed about 1 km from MG road and that area was good. I had interview at Cunningham road. I roamed around that part and it was good. The roads are good lined with green trees and quite clean. The traffic on the roads is very heavy. But it is well managed, the policing is very good and most of the people, I thought, followed the rules pretty well unlike in Pune where its just mad. The weather was excellent. I then went to visit my friend in Koramangala. Communicating was not a problem as lot of people even the ricksha drivers also seemed to understand hindi. I spoke only hindi to all except for the interview ofcourse.

The airport is bad though as are most in India.

By the way I got the job as well. So all in all I enjoyed Bangalore and it was a great weekend for me.

Sumit, congrats for your new job. Are you joining? If you are joining can you revisit this thread and your comments about bangalore after one year and I am sure you may wish to delete this thread as your views about Bangalore will be different after 1 year

True weather is good in bangalore, some roads are good but not all.

I agree since it was just 1 day. Living for a year could be totally different. But I enjoyed my 1 day.

Good to know, that you liked our Namma Bengeloorooo. But One thing you should experience when you are in bangalore. Try to roam around city in the evening at around 4 pm to 7 pm. Then you ll see the real face of bangalore. I hope you ll soon try and delete this thread.

And now in the rains the real image of bangalores infrastructure comes out.

That is because it was a Week End .

Try the same commute during the week day.

Also, unless you get to be a VP or a CxO, it is unlikely you will be living/buying anything close to Cunningham road ;-)

Hi Sumit,
Congrats on your job. About Bangalore, you have just visited the most important and beautiful place (MG Road, Cunningham Rd). There are some other areas which is beautiful, but most of the others are now bad. Most of the trees are cut down due to constructions, expansion of roads and so on. There are frequent power cuts which is bit odd considering the nature of the city.

Also the traffic is really bad, you can take almost 1-2 hours travelling one way to work.

But overall its good if you can make some compromises.

All the best.

or anywhere in Banaglore!!.Its expensive not only on Cunnigham Road but everywhere.Whatever the open space available, had been purchased by Mantris/Salarpurias/Purvankars/Sobhas builders.
Recently European Aeronautic Defence Space Company was requesting State govt. to give them the land at lesser price or give some subsidy.!!.
Traffic is a problem not only here but in every Indian city.Hyderabad I heard is less crowdy but will be in the same boat in 2/3 years of time.As everybody wants to own a house before (s)he reaches 30,real estate prices are very high.Bubble might burst anytime as companies might start logging out of this region.Apple /Pervasive Software and two more UK based BPOs have already logged out.
