I've been looking around for PHP contractors here in the US, and was surprised by the prices, they are typically around $100-125/hr. This is for developers not only in NYC, but other major metro regions. Now I've also gotten resumes that don't look so great for people charing as low as $30/hr, but they're not people I would hire. Some friends on Nebraska tell me website deisgn work by guys they know, done remotely in Nebraska (primarily XHTML, CSS, etc) goes for $75/hr.

What numbers are others seeing in the marketplace these days?

Jesus, and I thought I am being well paid. At this rate, even if one works half of the time, he already earns 120*8*5*26 = 124800. Mark, can you elaborates the selection criteria for a developer you would hire .
