Hi - I'm wondering if it's wise to dump thousands of database records into a session bean to be displayed in a JSP who's MIME is that for an excel document. (An excel spreadsheet will be displayed in the browser window displaying all records in the database. Please advise - Thanks!
Thanks for your reply! All the data needs to be in one Excel spreadsheet. Is there any other way of doing this without beans? Would it be better to put the ResultSet into the request and access the records in the ResultSet directly in the JSP?
Not at all......RS is a db object and should not be transported around the system else some class that never created the RS will have to remember to close it which could cause a potential for memory leaks in u'r system........... Now coming to the problem..........What i would suggest u to do is get a smaller RS from the db say 50 rows, store them in a Object which u can serialize and pass around........and ask the user if he wants to see more..........I think that that is the best way to do it...........
