Well I would like to know what is minimum allowance is sufficient to live in Canada.

One of company saying accomodation plus transportation plus 30 Canadian dollar per day ???....is it enough to live there.

Indian salary will be credited as per standard.

Mohan,

Never been to canada but I guess 30 canadian dollars per day still seems a bit too less, say if you stay for a month the allowance comes to around 900 canadian dollars which I really think is way too less even with your Indian salary being credited.

You can do a search on living expenses in the city which you will be going to to see if what is being offered is a comfortable allowance.

If I were you, I will think hard and still say no for the offer.

Best wishes.

At your service, your royal highness.

PS: Mohan, I guess with your posts, I am taking a guess that somehow you are inclined positively for the offer and just want an affirmation of some kind. Do not know how much you really want this, but I really wish you think this out with a cool mind before accepting it, as even without knowing the living expenses in canada the offer seems to be grossly unfair to you in the current state.

Again best wishes and think cool.

Thanks a lot guys !
But you know I don't have any idea what is minimum allowance required to spend okey type life there. Though they are offering great indian salary(As per today's standard).

But my worry is, I can't work in this kind of environment, I will be alone from family. I was considering this as a good exposure along with good indian sal.But its seems that, life will miserable there.

How much other company pays as a allowance for Canada, like TCS gives 1700 pound for UK, and people can save atleast !!

Yes exactly, allowance for UK is around 1800 pounds and for US is around 2500 dollars and Indian salary credit in both case.

So 900 canadian dollars seem to be bit less.

As far as I know in US, TCS pays Salary and not allowances. So you wont get Indian salary. In US , a 3 years exp TCS guy gets around 3,500 dollars after TAX again this is based on City where you are deputed.

Accomodation plus transportation plus $10,000 per year. And presumably you would have to pay income tax on the entire sum, unless there is some kind of illegal activity going on. You may think that you are getting a good deal but my guess is that you're going to pay somewhere around half of that $10,000 per year in income tax. And figure on something like $200 per month to eat, if you're going to cook for yourself, a LOT more than that if you plan to eat out.

If you are bechlor then you can share house rent and you can save easily around 1500$ ... but again I must say that depends on you. how expensive your intrest are.

But if you are living a normal life then you can easily save 1500$.

And yes if you are living in a dump area in US then also you can save some more according to the state where are you living.

I meant $2500 as allowance per month and not salary. It would be applicable for a business visa and not a H1 as in that case the employee is in US for "work" and will need to be paid salary and be on employee rolls and also pay the federal tax + state tax + social tax + medical insurance.

For a relatively junior post salary "should" be around $4750 before tax and around $3750 after tax [again this is very state specific coz of different rules.]

Yes sure - you can work at a local grocery shop, 711, Walmart as part-time labor. It's a very good way to supplement your income!

I guess you started the kidding part right....?

A H1 by definition is a visa for a person of some skill which is in short supply at the position of application, the company which provides the H1 should legally prove that the person being employed by it on H1 needs to have skills which cannot be found locally and the person has to be paid on similar lines of a local being employed.

You cannot possible be legally entitled to work part time or something to supplement your income as by definition, you are not an immigrant but a person temporarily filling up a post for a certain vacancy.

Nice to see so many answers !!
But I have some insight.
TCS or some other company gives 2500 dollars and tax is applicable plus accomodation tranportation all taken care by this amount only. Now if say , that some company is taking care of transportatin / accomodation and other basic things. And then pay 900 dollar per month as allowance don't you think these are equivalent to TCS.

Provided they are eligible for that part time work. An H-1B alien is NOT.

Cheers!

In relation to the original post: H1B is a United States visa classification. In Canada the laws are different.
