I want to deploy an application that basically receive/response messages from a variety of protocol (Socket, Soap,...) and update the database. I also have few Web pages for the administration.
How I should deploy my application in a J2EE server ?
Basically, a J2EE server allow to deploy 5 types of components:
- applets
- application clients
- EJB
- Web components
- resource adapter
a) Web componets (and start the processing engine in the servlet initialization) ?
b) Have a client application (for the processing engine) and a Web application ? (they will run in a different JVM !)
Please send me any comments/suggestions...
Thanks

Your web modules frecuently are packed in a war file so to deploy it is diferent from one vendor to other but i suggest you that first generates the war.
To deploy the ejb geneally they are packed in a jar file. Also you can generate a EAR file with the two files jar and the war files.
Your servlets, jsp, ejb will be running on the server. Your client applications like applets will run on the client side. This file will be downloaded to the client machine and ejecuted on client jvm.
I hoope this help you.
