"Akash",

Welcome to JavaRanch. Please look carefully at the official naming policy at Javaranch & reregister yourself with a proper first & last name, with a space between them. Initials may be used for a first name, but not a last name. Please adhere to official naming policy & help maintain the decorum of the forum. Hello,

Salary & Designation wise its bogus,If you are working as SSE somewhere , they will offer you Post of SE (One Level down)..intresting thing is there is no logic behind this.
I don't know why its a company rated at 5th Position in the list of "Best Companies to work for in India".perhaps, its mainly because of domain & may be some facilities.

Ranchers...Could you please share the info. about work culture, onsite opportunities, salary and kind of work in HSBC, pune.

I am not sure about the onsite oppurtunities in other domains, but if you are in the Mainframes side, they send you to Geneva, Switzerland.

I think they pay well and the infrastructure is fantastic. Will find out more info and let you know.

I agree that HSBC has one of the best infrastructure, I have seen. If you are into QA/Testing, most of the work is manual.

I guess for 3 yrs experience they would offer about 5.5 per annum which is pretty low . Not sure about the posistion though . For SE it may be 5.5 but for SSE it should be more .

any inputs about how much are they offering ?

For 3 years 5.5 is pretty decent salary IMHO.

I think for 3 Years you should get around 6..as far as HSBC is concerned if they are offering 5.5 (5% tolerance) then its Great news!!!..As far as i know they do not offer more than 5 (rather 4.8) for 3 yrs.

As far as one survey in 2005 goes.......Best Companies to work for in India
its
Infosys
Sasken
Genpact
%$%^$^%^&(i don't remember now.)

HSBC (At No.5)

6L salary for 3 years experience is definitely not the average salary in Pune. It is indeed on the higher side. You will not find too many companies which would offer that kind of salary here in Pune.

Hey Sumit,
Amdocs,Unica offers 5.5+ for 2 Yrs of Exp....& few more(T-Systems,Sungard) around 5 for 2 Yrs.Ultimately it depends on How good you fit in the current requirement...

Thats right . Generally product development companies offer more than services companies .

So in Pune , you can get 6 L for 3 yrs experience provided you can prove yourself .

I can also add TPT ( Triple Point ) in the list .

I also got a call recently from HSBC , Pune for interview . they told for 3 yrs they offer maximm 5.5 L if you are very good in interview . I replied HR , that I am not interested .

Sumit where do you work ?

I agree with you since I myself am paid 7L+ for 3+ years experience. All I wanted to say is that it not average and not all get it. I said "You will not find too many companies which would offer that kind of salary here in Pune." The above few companies that you mentioned are the few ones that would pay rest/majority are not that competetive. So 5.5 for 3 years is not bad at all. That's all I wanted to say . Things have changed in Pune in last 1 year or so. Before that most of the companies followed the thumb rule salary = exp in years + 1 L +/- some variations depending on the individual.

I remember when I first started to work in Pune about 2.5 years back in a big product development MNC which was considered to be a paymaster in Pune at that time, I somehow came to know of my team lead's salary . He got 6.5 for 5+ years exp at that time and was considered very good.

But now salaries are starting to mount in Pune too.

Hi,

Sorry, I haven't seen this thread before, so replying late.

Work culture - excellent - perfect balance of personal and work life - very open - very cool life - I mean, it's great.

Onsite - a lot but of short duration, the best thing is, you can go anywhere in the world, not stick to only one or two places.

Salary - good but can't be considered as a pay master (but you can cover it by onsite)

Infrastructure and facility - one of the best in country.

Overall, it's great place to stay for long term.

I don't work for HSBC, but been to their (one of the) Geneva offices recently and the guys are I worked with were sound knew their stuff, and easy going too. However, I hope they would pay you bucket loads of cash, because Geneva is expensive! For instance, eating out would cost you 30 to 50 francs (approx 25 40 $)!

I agree with what Rathi has said except for the part:

Work culture - excellent - perfect balance of personal and work life - very open - very cool life - I mean, it's great.

I have to disagree on this. I havent heard or worked for any company where you can strike a perfect balance of personal and work life. This applies to HSBC too, as I know people who have worked there and who still work there.
