Isolation Portability issue explanation

Hi all,
I have a question from the Mastering EJB-II
PDF Page 315.
It refers to "Isolation Portability issues" which I don't understand from the description. Now, may be it is due to the reason I have not written J2EE code so far but if somebody can elaborate on the explanation by an example it would get into this tiny mind...
