Here's the link on amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0764539663/qid=1080143950/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/102-0771584-5153712?v=glance&s=books&n=507846
Has anyone read this book? Would you recommend it?

There are positive reviews on the same Amazon site. But at least one reviewer mentioned about "many authors-less coherent content". I guess that explains part of the picture.

I saw the reviews on amazon but I was interested in hearing from javaranchers on this book.
Does anyone have this book in hand?

Respected ranchers post their opinions on J2EE books here.

I would not miss downloading a version or two of the J2EE tutorial from Sun either. IBM has a lot of practical J2EE advice in their redbooks, too.

I looked through the book review forum but did not find this book. So, I put the question in this forum.

Since you can not find a review in the ranch there is more than 60% possibility that the book stinks.
There are bunch of other alternatives which are highly regarded and cover a to z on J2EE ( both EJB and JSP ).

Not even us bartenders and sheriffs can read every Java book.

your best bet would be this link(there are some J2EE books that cover the whole picture).
