Using WSAD 5: does anyone know anything about managing version control and change control for J2EE applications? A few people will need to be able to change code - not sure of the best approach - any links or ideas ?

WSAD5 perfectly works with CVS.
Install VSS on Linux server (you can do this also on Windows if you don't have Linux box, but this is not recommended). It could take a day for you if you have not done this before. Then connect your workspace to the CVS. WSAD has really perfect integration with CVS. It beats jIDEA in this aspect.

I mentioned VSS by mistake. CVS is correct choice from my PoV.
