These terms are used with respect to entity beans. A coarse-grained EJB represents a lot of data, like a whole list. A fine-grained ejb represents less data, like one row.

if the Business logic or validation is more then it is called

Coarse grained Entity beans.the reverse is fine grained entity bean.

And also the Coarse Grained entity beans manages the life cycle of other

fine grained entiy and java objects
