Why is the action
always mapped to *.do in struts-config.xml.Can any other mapping be followed or the convention of using *.do should be continued.If so why.

I think at this point, it's just a matter of style. I usually end up forgetting the syntax of the DD so I copy it from the
website, ergo having *.do in my apps.
But you can map anything you want.
