I dont clearly understand what you mean by Finance specific or IT specific. These certifications are on Finance domains. Our company has some tie-up with globecon. Doing this will give you a good understanding on finance concepts.

what I wanted to ask is : I am an software engineer working in a CMM 5 MNC.I have a sun certification and want to increase my knowledge set by knowing more about domain . Many people suggest that doing a certification would do a lot of good as you learn as well as have something to keep on your CV.Even my PM and HR people say the same. What I want to ask is : In the finance domain for a software professional , which is the best cert to go after. I found that for highly reputed CFP etc .. you need 3-4 year experience -- so for a 1-2 year exp. person which is the cert. in financial domain that may help in both the causes -- learning the domain concepts and also qualify the cert. There may be many certs for finance but some of them may be considered in demand for an IT guy -- I just want to know what are those -- e.g in healthcare domain companies ask for AHM 250 cert -- I want to know similar certs in financial domain.

I think what you need to learn is the domain itself and that is what these pure finance certs would teach you. It is hard to find a cert that teaches you J2EE design patterns for financial applications. I do not think you would find anything like "XXX certified J2EE Developer for Financial applications", if that is what you are looking for.

Absolutely Ali ... I am not asking for any cert that means "XXX certified J2EE Developer for Financial applications". All I am asking is for someone to tell me the names of financial certs that are given value in the market as domain expertise.

Hi Have you seen the syllabus and the modules which NCFM has to offer? The modules are not very expensive ( approx 1000/- each). You get the study material and also you can schedule the exams when you are ready. My company recognizes the NCFM credentials and I have completed 3 modules. So NCFM should be the right certification which should go for. You can also do a google on Indian Institute for Banking & FInance and Insurance Institute of India in case you need some more stuff to think about.
