RMI layer is bypassed so there is no Serialization & Deserialization of data (Marshalling/Unmarshalling)..

In RMI....Objects are passed by value but in this case they are effectively passed by reference.

I hope this helps..

Point No. 1 is where you get performance boost....Although there is a difference of opinion about the usage of Local Interfaces.

We've provided performance measurement of transaction duration with RMI and local, after consolidation of JVM and move to local we got 20% overall performance improvement

I agree. Here's the link: http://ej-technologies/jprofiler - if it wasn't for jprofiler, we would need to run our stuff on 16 servers instead of 3.
