I've been able to create a small three screen web application using Murach's Java Servlets and JSPs book with only the usual number of issues. Now, however, I need to convert my application into a "war" file. Unfortunately, war files are not in the book. Could someone please give me the "war files for dummies" summary of how to create a deploy-able war file?

A WAR file is no different from a JAR file, except that it has some special content. Look at Wikipedia, there's a link to creating a WAR file.

(sorry I can't post the link, don't know why, but I'm getting an error. Go to Wikipedia and search for WAR)

I guess war file can be created by zipping it (windows) and renaming it as .war

However, the directory structure should be taken care of. (Web app directory structure)

war files, and ear files, par files, rar files, and jar files are all created using the jar command.
Don't use another tool, as the file structure might not match the required one.
