Using JEE or not ??? advice really needed!

Hello all,
Well I just have bbeen given a project to work on.
We can say that it's my first real life project.

I want to design it in J EE and I want to know what are the ways it can be designed.
My project, is a desktop application to manage an office ( of 4 employees) but it can be set up on different offices separately.

Only 2 users in the office can access the data. and the database should be deployed in the office with the application.
can I use J EE 5 for that ?? or is it just a waist of time?

What I find challenging is : security. I don't want somebody that has got the application to copy it and give it to somebody else (another office).
How can I do that in your opinion.
(I thaugh about having one server (mine) and with every application I deploy, I give a user name and password, so even if you have the application you cannot log on until you have subscribed).

as a beginner I would LOVE to have as much feedback from you as possible please.

Thanks a lotttttttttt in advance.
Best regards......

There is a free J2EE class that I can recommend that is being taught by Sang Shin: http://www.javapassion.com/j2ee/index.html . Check out the definition of 'J2EE application' in the first week's assignment. Verify that the characteristics of your work assignment allow for the use of a J2EE application. Also, talk to your users or customers and gather use cases -- they will help define your assignment and constrain the solution.

ok thanks
can you please forget about the J EE part and tell me how can I implement my application in such a way that it cannot be used by somebody until he/she bought it ( and NOT took from somebody else).

Thanks a lot.
regards,
