error at the time of Bolean object setting in cmp

hi javaranchers,
in database i declared active_flag as bool in usr table.
I used cmp field in entitybean like below.

 public abstract Boolean getActive();
    public abstract void setActive(Boolean state);   

i am setting active_flag value through cmp in one table which is available postgresql database at this time i am getting below error.

 javax.ejb.EJBException: Store failed; CausedByException is:
ERROR: column "active_flag" is of type boolean but expression is of type character
