What is JBI in simple words?
Something like Java Connector Architecture? Jini? EJB?

Java Business Integration(JBI) is a specification to provide a standard for integrating different business services. It mainly addresses the following integration aspects:

1) Protocol mediation.
2) Message transformation.

If any application/product is JBI compliant, it means that a third party vendor must be able to deploy different components on to the product. Thus, controlling the above mentioned behaviors.
It is not much related to EJB, JINI or other aspects of distributed computing but it is more related to integration domain. At a very high level, Java connector architecture may be somewhat close to what JBI is but the domains addressed by the two specifications are totally different.

ServiceMix provides implementation of JBI. We evaluated it a year ago but did not find it mature enough. Things may be diferent now.
