I am having problem with starting Sun J2EE Server 1.4. I was not able to figure out what the problem is. I have tried reinstallation but did not work either. I also have reinstalled my J2SDK, but did not fix the problem. I am using J2SDK1.4.2_03 on Windows 2003 Server

Here is my error message when I do start-domain domain1 at as admin mode:
asadmin> start-domain domain1
Starting Domain domain1, please wait.
Log redirected to C:\Sun\AppServer\domains\domain1\logs\server.log.
abnormal subprocess termination: Detailed Message:Error: org/apache/commons/launcher/LaunchFilter

CLI156 Could not start the domain domain1.

I have tried to start it by using startserv.bat at domain1 directory and also the desktop shortcut Start Default Domain.

When i start the server using command prompt it gives the follwing message:-

C:\Sun\AppServer\pointbase\tools\serveroption>startserver.bat
Server started, listening on port 9092, display level: 0 ...
>java.net.SocketException: Connection reset
at java.net.SocketInputStream.read(SocketInputStream.java:168)

at java.io.DataInputStream.readUTF(DataInputStream.java:547)
at com.pointbase.net.netConnectionHandler.run(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:619)

Nothing works. I'do apprecited it if you can share any ideas or suggestions regarding this issue.
Thank you in advance.

locate the error in <J2EE SERVER Installation>/AppServer/domains/domain1/logs

I assume port 8080 used by server is in use. Try changing the port. You can change the port in <J2EE SERVER Installation>/AppServer/domains/domain1/config/domain.xml.

In the file, locate :
<http-listener acceptor-threads="100" address="0.0.0.0" default-virtual-server="server" enabled="true" id="http-listener-1" port="8080" security-enabled="false" server-name="" xpowered-by="true">
</http-listener>

Change 8080 to another port, suppose 8090. Save and try starting.
Hope it works.

According to you i changed the port no ,but that also does not work.
When i try to start the default domain it gives the following message:-

Log redirected to C:\Sun\AppServer\domains\domain1\logs\server.log.
abnormal subprocess termination: Detailed Message:Error: XML parser factory has
not been configured correctly: Provider org.apache.crimson.jaxp.SAXParserFactory
Impl not found

CLI156 Could not start the domain domain1.
Press any key to continue . . .
