I use netbean 5.5.1 and jboss 4.2.2, when I deploy my ejb, the following error occur:

Could not create deployment: file:/D:/jboss-4.2.2.GA/server/default/deploy/jboss-ds.xml
org.jboss.deployment.DeploymentException: Invalid character ':' in value part of property; - nested throwable: ( Invalid character ':' in value part of property)

my jboss-ds.xml file is
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

my persistence.xml file is
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<persistence version="1.0" xmlns="" xmlns:xsi="" xsi:schemaLocation="">
<persistence-unit name="EntityApp-ejbPU" transaction-type="JTA">
<property name="" value="update"/>

what wrong in this file?

Welcome to JavaRanch

Which version of Java are you using? When JBoss, starts it prints out the Java version on the console. For me it shows:

What does it show for you? If you are using Java 6, can you switch to Java 5 and see if it works.

As the exception suggests the error isn't related to the persistence or datasource file.
Check for something like

EntityManager entityManager;

in your code and correct the value of the name property adequately.
I agree. Here's the link:
