I use netbean 5.5.1 and jboss 4.2.2, when I deploy my ejb, the following error occur:

Could not create deployment: file:/D:/jboss-4.2.2.GA/server/default/deploy/jboss-ds.xml
org.jboss.deployment.DeploymentException: Invalid character ':' in value part of property; - nested throwable: (javax.management.MalformedObjectNameException: Invalid character ':' in value part of property)

my jboss-ds.xml file is
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<datasources>
<local-tx-datasource>
<jndi-name>TestEJB</jndi-name>
<connection-url>jdbc:mysql://127.0.0.1:3306/testejbdb</connection-url>
<driver-class>com.mysql.jdbc.Driver</driver-class>
<user-name>root</user-name>
<password/>
<min-pool-size>5</min-pool-size>
<max-pool-size>20</max-pool-size>
<idle-timeout-minutes>5</idle-timeout-minutes>
</local-tx-datasource>
</datasources>

my persistence.xml file is
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<persistence version="1.0" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence/persistence_1_0.xsd">
<persistence-unit name="EntityApp-ejbPU" transaction-type="JTA">
<provider>org.hibernate.ejb.HibernatePersistence</provider>
<jta-data-source>java:/TestEJB</jta-data-source>
<properties>
<property name="hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto" value="update"/>
</properties>
</persistence-unit>
</persistence>

Peter,

Welcome to JavaRanch

Which version of Java are you using? When JBoss, starts it prints out the Java version on the console. For me it shows:

What does it show for you? If you are using Java 6, can you switch to Java 5 and see if it works.

As the exception javax.management.MalformedObjectNameException suggests the error isn't related to the persistence or datasource file.
Check for something like

@PersistenceContext(name="java:fooDB")
EntityManager entityManager;

in your code and correct the value of the name property adequately.

I agree. Here's the link: http://aspose.com/file-tools
